The Arab League strongly condemned and denounced on Sunday a terrorist attack by the Houthi militia that targeted the Mesftah Ikdad III area and the new construction area of Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The attack led to the explosion of three tankers transporting petroleum fuels and resulted in the death of three people and the injury of six.
The Arab League welcomed in a meeting Sunday the solidarity of states and regional and international organisations with the United Arab Emirates and condemned the attacks perpetrated by the Houthi militias against civilian areas and installations as a cowardly and sinister terrorist attack.
It stressed that these terrorist attacks constitute a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law and a real threat to vital civilian installations, energy supplies, and the stability of the global economy.
They also constitute a threat to regional peace and security, undermining Arab national security, damaging international peace and security, and posing a threat to international commercial shipping routes.
The Arab League stressed that the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militias reflect their terrorist nature and reveal their real objectives in destabilising the security and stability of the region in defiance of the norms of international law and international humanitarian law.
It affirmed full solidarity with the UAE and its support for all measures taken to defend its security, as well as its national interests and capabilities.
The pan-Arab bloc also affirmed its support for the UAE’s right to defend itself and to retaliate against aggression under international law, while appreciating the UAE’s commitment to abide by international law and to respect and comply with the relevant UN resolutions.
Furthermore, it called on all countries to classify the Houthi movement as a terrorist organisation after its recent missile and drone attacks on the UAE.
The Arab League also stressed the need for the international community to stand united in the face of this terrorist act that threatens regional and international peace and stability, and to take immediate and decisive measures to deter Houthi militias from repeating these criminal acts in Yemen and the region.
Additionally, it called on the UN and the UN Security Council to shoulder their responsibilities and take a decisive and unified stance against the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and the UAE to deter and confront the ongoing atrocities committed by the Houthi militias against civilians and their deliberate obstruction of the delivery of humanitarian aid and supplies and confiscation of food.
