Khaled Abu Al-Makarem, Chairperson of the Chemical and Fertilisers Export Council, said that the government’s support and measures that were implemented in paying export subsidy dues and the regularity in disbursement to exporters confirmed the state’s keenness to support exports.
Abu Al-Makarem added that the heads of export councils demanded activating some facilities by banks, which Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly responded to by announcing his communication with the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to hold a meeting during the coming period in the presence of the officials of export councils. This is to discuss financing problems of manufacturers and exporters.
Exporters further called for the necessity of establishing incentives for manufacturers who establish a factory for raw materials and production inputs, which will have a broad positive impact on reducing the cost of final production and replacing imported goods with local production.
Abu Al-Makarem noted that the heads and representatives of the export councils reviewed a number of demands that would contribute to increasing exports and achieving the desired boom during the next period. Foremost of which is the presence of a fleet that includes fast boats to reach foreign markets, especially in Europe and Africa, as quickly as possible.
They also demanded the expansion of airfreight and the need for the government to support commercial headquarters and warehouses for Egyptian goods in the countries targeted for export so that Egyptian products are offered there, especially in African countries.
Moreover, exporters demanded supporting a system for exhibitions and external marketing for Egyptian products, he noted, pointing out that “there is a need for strong platforms for online marketing, especially for handicrafts, in a way that contributes to promoting our various industries that we are distinguished in.”
