Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi directed that construction work in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) be completed as per the agreed upon schedules while ensuring the highest quality standards, in order to transfer all government agencies by the scheduled time.

Al-Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly; Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem Al-Gazzar; and Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning Amir Sayed Ahmed.

Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady stated that during the meeting, President Al-Sisi followed up on the arrangements made by the government to transfer ministries and government agencies to the NAC.

Al-Gazzar also presented the executive position of housing for employees in the NAC, especially with regard to the administrative procedures required for real estate financing for housing units.

The 360-feddan Government District in the NAC comprises 10 complexes that will house 34 ministries, the headquarters of the cabinet, and the House of Representatives.

The New Capital has been designed as a high-tech, smart city to accommodate 6.5m residents and ease congestion in Cairo. The city includes a government district, a business district, vast parks, and a diplomatic district.

Government employees who have their workplace relocated to the NAC can choose between receiving transportation or a housing allowance.

They can also secure an apartment in Badr City with a 25% discount on the property’s value, with the rest paid in instalments.

Those who are unable to move to Badr City, however, will receive a transportation allowance based on their position, the minimum amount of which will be EGP 2,000 per month.

The New Capital will be connected to Greater Cairo via a transportation network that includes Egypt’s first monorail train, which is scheduled to begin operation in late 2022.
