President of Menoufiya University Adel Mubarak honoured the distinguished students at the university who graduated from the various training programmes offered by the Menoufiya branch of the Digital Egypt Creativity Centre.
The Information Technology Institute (ITI) of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology concluded a number of training programmes offered to young people at the Digital Egypt Innovation Centre in a number of modern technological fields, including embedded systems, internet of things development, introduction to the web, and the development of Android software.
The ceremony was held during an introductory meeting planned by the centre to review the training grants provided to young people through the ITI, National Telecommunication Institute, and IT Development Authority.
During the ceremony, President of the IT Heba Saleh delivered a welcoming speech via video conference to the president of the university, the audience, and the honoured students in which she expressed her happiness with the fruitful cooperation with the university since the beginning of the establishment of the centre to support digital transformation and qualify the university’s youths for the labour market and obtain better job opportunities, reviewing what they have done and the achievements of the Institute.
Salah Abdel Mohsen — the Director of the ITI at the Menoufiya branch of the Digital Egypt Creativity Centre — and members of the work team reviewed the institute’s activities and the training programmes it provided, the number of students who have been trained so far, the training programmes and grants for professional and intensive training, and the self-employment initiative that aims to train 5,000 students on work skills in various disciplines, where the first phase begins with the training of 1,000 students from the faculties of computers and information, science, commerce, and electronic engineering.
Mubarak confirmed that the centre is a distinguished educational edifice and the first Egyptian platform for creativity and entrepreneurship in implementation of the state’s plan to spread technological innovation clusters in all governorates with the aim of enabling creativity and entrepreneurship and contributing to the implementation of the strategy of building a digital Egypt.
Through these centres, the ITI offers training courses for young people specialised in ICT sciences, providing programmes targeting future professions; specialised training grants for students and graduates; and self-learning skills to introduce different labour markets, understand the map of future technological professions, and learn the skills necessary to fill these professions. He stressed that the labour market needs skills as well as certificates to increase one’s chances of success.
Some of the honoured students gave a speech about their experience in training at the centre, in which they stressed the extent of benefiting from the training programmes, the amount of information they obtained, and the extent to which their skills and abilities were developed and better qualified them for the labour market.
The communications ministry established the Digital Egypt Creativity Centre on the campus of Menoufiya University with the aim of qualifying young students and graduates of the university and other academic institutions in the vicinity for the local and global labour market, preparing cadres that contribute to supporting and developing the information technology industry and motivating young people to be creative and entrepreneurial as part of a plan that aims to establish a digital innovation centre in each governorate.
Egypt’s Digital Creativity Centres provide a stimulating environment for young people who want to test an idea and learn the necessary skills for it, meet faculty members in colleges who have pioneering research that can be marketed, and touch-base with start-up owners. The centres organise workshops and various activities, which reflects the important role that the state and universities play in encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation within society.
