Within the framework of the Lifeboats Presidential Initiative to raise awareness of the dangers of illegal immigration, the Egyptian Ministry of Expatriate Affairs launched a door-to-door campaign in Qena and Luxor starting from 16 to 23 April to curb the spread of the phenomenon.

Minister of Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram said that the initiative is targeting the governorates that have the highest rate of illegal immigration and is working to provide safe alternative opportunities for youths.

President of the National Council for Women (NCW) Maya Morsi explained that educating women is very important in confronting this serious issue.

She also stressed the council’s full support for this initiative, asserting women’s important role in dissuading children within their families from illegal migration and to search for safe opportunities to work within the country.

In preparation for the launch of the campaign, the NCW is organising training courses for 100 female leaders of the council to familiarise them with awareness-raising messages about the dangers of illegal immigration and the state’s efforts to reduce it and introduce available alternatives to provide secure job opportunities within the country.
