Ghada Khalil — Director of the “Rowad 2030” Project at the Ministry of Planning — said during a session on the role of entrepreneurship in digital transformation that the goal of the Rowad 2030 Project is to generate jobs for young people by establishing 50,000 new start-ups.

It also aims to educate them and develop their skills through many initiatives to utilise their energies and diversify sources of income to bring about real development.

These remarks came on the side-lines of the fourth session of the Future of the Giant Data Centre Industry Summit, which was held from 22 May to 23 May, 2022.

She added that the project focuses on four main axes — the first being education.

“The second axis is business incubators. In this axis, we have established 10 general and specialised incubators to support entrepreneurs — a place that supports young people and their ideas,” Khalil noted.

The third axis is the awareness axis and will be implemented within public schools. It focuses on training teachers to convey the idea of entrepreneurship to students. It targets reaching 700,000 students through extra-curricular activities in schools.

The fourth axis is providing tools that help entrepreneurs develop their businesses with the aim of sustaining start-ups in addition to legal and financial services that help companies.

She also indicated that Egypt is ranked first in terms of investing in emerging companies in our region.

For his part, Mohamed Al-Dallal — Executive Director of the Techne Summit for Technology and Entrepreneurship — said that Techne started several years ago. It aimed to gather those involved in entrepreneurship in one place. It then evolved into Techne tours to define the work environment, stressing the importance of cooperation and integration among the institutions that support entrepreneurship.

Furthermore, Amr Farouk — Vice President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology for Technological Development — said that technology is the solution to Egypt’s economic advancement, adding that the academy has been working on community development for some time and supports 300-400 graduation projects every year with EGP 17m.
