Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anany and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat held an expanded meeting to find out the latest developments in the project to raise the efficiency of internet services in Sharm El-Sheikh’s hotels.
This is to better serve the attendees of the 27th UN Conference of Parties Climate Change (COP27) that will be held there in November.
During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed the work that has been implemented on the ground in this regard and discussed overcoming some of the obstacles facing some hotel establishments in connecting fibre-optic cables and finding the necessary solutions.
They also reviewed the training courses prepared by the two ministries through the Communications Regulatory Authority and the Information Technology Institute for the inspectors of the Central Administration of Hotel Establishments, Shops, and Tourist Activities on the means of measuring the performance of internet networks in hotels and the quality of internal networks to include these measurements in the new evaluation criteria for these facilities.
This is in addition to following up on the executive position of digital transformation projects and developing the tourism technological infrastructure in light of the cooperation protocol between the two ministries.
