Parliament approves 51 international agreements during second session in 2022

The House of Representatives witnessed 509 briefing requests and issued 30 urgent statements in the second session in 2022.

The House discussed and approved 51 international agreements, all of which aimed to support the national economy, achieve comprehensive sustainable growth, and consolidate cooperative relations between Egypt and many countries in various fields.

The new laws approved by the parliament included: amendments to the Agrarian Reform Law, to allow the allocation of seized lands from citizens to establish public utilities at the request of one of the ministries, government departments, or administration units, public bodies or public legal persons. It shall be approved by the prime minister and cabinet.

Mahmoud Hussein, the head of the youth and sports committee in the House of Representatives, said the parliament held 116 meetings during the second session of the second legislative term.

He also said that the parliament witnessed a total of 174 briefing requests to youth and sports bodies, spending about 95 working hours in total.

During the briefings, the committee issued 96 recommendations for the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

He pointed out that the committee conducted two field visits, the first to the governorates of Qena and Sohag, and the second to the governorates of Ismailia and Port Said, to inspect a number of youth and sports facilities and bodies in those governorates and to identify their problems to work out solutions for them, in cooperation with the executive officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

On the legislative level, the committee approved a draft law submitted by Hussein and more than one-tenth of the House’s members regarding extending the period prescribed for general assembly meeting of sports federations. The House approved the law on 19 October 2021.

The committee also discussed a draft law to increase the financial appropriations to the National Council for Youth and Sports, the General Authority of Cairo Stadium, the National Academy for Training and Rehabilitation of Youth, and directorates of youth and sports nationwide.
