Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has met with Christian Berger, Head of the European Union Mission in Egypt, and Marco Magiulro, Director of the Green and Sustainable Transformation Department at the mission, to discuss ways of cooperation between the two sides in the health sector.
During the meeting, the Minister of Health and Population thanked the European Union for its cooperation with Egypt in addressing the Coronavirus pandemic, in addition to its continuous support and cooperation in order to improve the quality of medical services provided to citizens.
Abdel Ghaffar stressed the Egyptian state’s keenness to expand the construction of green facilities, in addition to smart facilities that rely on artificial intelligence, which will reflect on improving health services, as he welcomed cooperation with the EU to develop a specific strategy aimed at building these facilities as soon as possible, emphasizing on overcoming all obstacles and challenges that may face the progress of the plan.
The minister directed, to generalize and implement the digital transformation strategy in all programs, services and projects of the ministry, to ensure facilitation of the provision of services to citizens, in addition to discussing cooperation between the two sides in the field of public health initiatives in order to be able to develop a map of diseases and create a health plan to combat them.
Moreover, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, said that the minister discussed cooperation in the national project for the development of the Egyptian family, through the provision of high-quality family planning services, and support for community activities aimed at increasing the chances of demand for family planning services.
He added that the two sides discussed cooperation in the field of basic health care, by supporting and equipping care units and providing them with the latest medical devices as well as medical supplies and medicines, in addition to cooperation in the field of training medical cadres from workers in basic care units.
