Orange Egypt announced signing a cooperation protocol with the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, to participate in the “Egypt’s Digital Youth” initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to build the capacities of young cadres in the fields of information, communications and electronics technologies. These capacities would be enhanced through training and qualifying Egypt’s promising youth professionally for the labour market.
Under the protocol, Orange Egypt will train dozens of young people for jobs, develop their skills, and provide them with the expertise necessary to engage smoothly and efficiently in the labor market, through an integrated training program that extends for about 120 hours. The detailed reports will be prepared at the end of the job training period on the tasks carried out during that time for each trainee. Trainees will then be provided with certificates approved by the company.
The job training offered by Orange aims to develop young people’s capabilities in a practical way and provide them with applied skills that give them competitive advantages compared to their peers in the region. This qualifies them for the labor market and enhances their creative energy, skill and technical capabilities.
Orange Egypt’s participation in the initiative comes in line with its global strategy for social responsibility, which pays special attention to youth and empowers and rehabilitates them in several fields, through several initiatives aimed at discovering talents. These initiatives also support ideas and emerging entrepreneurs with training, financing and openness to global expertise in the technology sectors. The Orange Development Academy training also aims to enhance these young people’s capabilities, along with annual training that support ambitious cadres as well as those wishing to make a career transition to the world of information technology. The average number of beneficiaries of the various programs offered by Orange Egypt for youth has reached more than 11,000 young people over the past five years.
Orange Egypt also aims to enable the Egyptian community to capture the great advantages inherent in the ICT industry by disseminating tools for understanding this sector among young people, as they are the most able to follow the rapid development in this industry in Egypt and the world.
Commenting on the signing, Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said that creating constructive partnerships between the government and private sectors is an important features of the communications and information technology sector, which has become a locomotive for development, and is the highest growth among the state sectors for four consecutive years. He pointed out that the digital capacity-building strategy launched by the ministry includes many initiatives aimed at expanding the base of trainees and providing various technological specializations to create a positive return for both the government and the private sector. The government’s goals are achieved in providing training opportunities and creating job opportunities for young people.
On this occasion, Mohamed El-Qosy, Head of Orange Laboratories for Development and Innovation, expressed his happiness to cooperate with NTI – a prestigious scientific, educational and research institution in the Egyptian telecommunications sector with a long history with Orange in training and qualifying a number of young graduates over the years. Orange Egypt pays special attention to youth, as they are the main pillar of the future.
He added: “We are always keen to cooperate with state institutions and provide the latest communication services and various technological solutions to create employees that are aware of the challenges and opportunities they face. We are always excited to participate in any initiative that supports young people, and we dedicate our efforts to support the state in this mission, which is a major priority in Egypt’s Vision 2030.”
