Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa said that Egypt and Serbia have strong bilateral relations in the field of tourism and antiquities.
Issa met on Tuesday with a media delegation from Serbia, which includes a number of representatives of the major daily, weekly and electronic Serbian outlets and the most popular and watched television channels in the country.
The Serbian visit was organised by the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board (ETPB) from 28 December to 4 January. This visit comes within the framework of the ministry’s keenness to promote the Egyptian tourist destinations and to open new markets.
Amr Al-Qadi, CEO of the ETPB, and Youmna Al-Bahar, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Technical Affairs, attended the meeting.
The Minister started the meeting by welcoming the delegation, as well as reviewing the tourist and archaeological elements that the Egyptian tourist destination enjoys, where the tourist can enjoy the bright sun, picturesque nature and sunny beaches, and get acquainted with the ancient Egyptian civilization, stressing that the Egyptian tourist destination attracts various segments of tourists who are looking for Integrated and multiple tourism experiences and patterns, as it attracts fans of cultural tourism, beach and recreational tourism, family tourism, adventure tourism and others.
He also talked about the national strategy for the development of tourism in Egypt and pushing more incoming tourist traffic to Egypt at growth rates ranging between 25% and 30% annually, pointing out that its most prominent axes are working to provide greater access to the Egyptian tourist destination, and improving the experience of tourists in the Egyptian tourist destination, And raising the quality of services provided by it, and improving the investment climate, especially in the hotel field.
It is worth noting that the delegation’s introductory visit included the cities of Hurghada, Cairo and Giza. During their visit to Hurghada, the delegation visited the Hurghada Museum. They also took a cruise on a yacht, during which they enjoyed the clear waters of the Red Sea, watching coral reefs and colorful and rare fish.
They also visited Baron Empain Palace in the Heliopolis district, and the Citadel of Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi in Cairo, in addition to their visit to the Giza pyramids.
The delegation will also visit the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat to learn about the archaeological treasures in the museum and watch the royal mummies that the museum received in a majestic procession from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir.
