Deputy Foreign Minister Hamdi Sanad Loza met Japan’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Shinsuke Shimizu, on Tuesday.
The meeting witnessed an exchange of views and visions of the two countries regarding political and security developments and interactions in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea regions.
In this context, the prospects and areas of cooperation between the two countries were discussed, including within the framework of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development, which contributes to enhancing security, stability and cooperation between the peoples and countries of the region.
The Japanese envoy also visited the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA), where Ambassador Ahmed Abdel Latif, Director General of the Center, reviewed the activities of the CCCPA in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea regions, including building the capacities of national cadres and institutions and enhancing their role in preventing extremism leading to terrorism and combating cross-border threats.
He also touched on the center’s role in addressing the repercussions of climate change on stability and development, within the framework of a comprehensive approach to strengthening the relationship between peace and security efforts and the human and development dimensions.
The meeting also dealt with opportunities to enhance the extended cooperation between the two sides within the framework of the activities of the Cairo Center and the Aswan Forum.
