Prime Mostafa Madboly inspected on Saturday a number of service and development projects in Alexandria, in the presence of the Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the Egyptian state does not only aim to establish infrastructure in ports, but also wants to ensure its sustainability, efficiency and maintenance at the highest level in accordance with international standards.
He added that this confirms the importance of the presence of international companies in these projects and to ensure the efficient and complete operation of these stations, as well as the transfer of their expertise to Egypt.
This came in a statement by Cabinet about the press conference held by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly on Saturday, in Alexandria port.
Governor of Alexandria Mohamed AlSharif and head of the General Authority of Alexandria Port accompanied the prime minister in the tour.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the volume of work that was carried out today in the ports, which took place during a period ranging from 3 to 4 years, would have taken 10 to 15 years by normal standards, but this serious work aims to compensate Egypt for a period in which it did not witness such type of projects.
He continued it provides many job opportunities, contributes to activating intra-trade, and maximizing the country’s capabilities to be a regional and global center for that type of trade that enabled Egypt to export large quantities through these ports, in addition to attracting the largest international companies that manage all that huge infrastructure that is taking place in the state now.
Madbouly referred to the comprehensive development work that he is inspecting and is currently taking place in the ports of Dekheila and Alexandria, stressing that despite the size of the development witnessed by the ports and being implemented by the Egyptian state at the present time, in addition to the construction, extension and lengthening of the berths, in a way that enables Egypt to become a logistical center in the Mediterranean and the eastern region.
The Prime Minister also indicated that berth 100 has been inspected in Dekheila Port, which, once completed, will be one of the largest and most important berths in the Mediterranean basin, stressing that giant and huge ships moving around the world will be able to be present in the ports of Dekheila and Alexandria
Madbouly said: “Transit trade will be activated, in the best possible way, and this is of great importance, because it will shape the future of global trade,” explaining that the Supreme Investment Council discussed the issue of setting exceptional incentives for “transit trade.”
He he indicated that Egyptian ports are linked with dry ports, logistical areas and storage areas within the Republic through a network of fast trains.
He pointed out that the goal of the high-speed train that connects Sokhna, El Alamein and Matrouh, passing through Alexandria, is to be a very large logistical corridor linking the Red and Mediterranean Bahrains, and it will be one of the points at which it will stop at that port, to transport the existing containers, whether into Egypt or to the Sokhna region through lines Railways.
In this regard, the Prime Minister thanked the Minister of Transport, the ministry’s officials, the governor of Alexandria and the leaders of the governorate for the volume of work we are witnessing today, which aims to build a new republic for Egypt.
