Violent clashes continue in three Sudanese cities

Violent clashes resumed on Tuesday between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the cities of Omdurman, Khartoum, and Khartoum Bahri.

The areas south of Khartoum witnessed violent clashes with heavy weapons.

Explosions and clashes continued to be heard towards the camp of the “Central Reserve” Forces, the industrial zone, the popular market in Omdurman, North and west of Haj Youssef in the eastern Nile suburb of Khartoum Bahri locality and some areas in Ambda.

Appeals were issued to residents in the areas of clashes to stay inside the houses, stay away from the windows and take caution.

On Monday, the Sudanese armed forces appealed in a statement to “the youth and everyone who can participate in the Armed Forces the honor of defending the entity and dignity of the Sudanese nation”.

The army also added in its statement that the commands of the divisions and military districts were “instructed to receive and equip fighters”.

Also, on Monday, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni received a Sudanese delegation including a number of political, civil and professional leaders at the Ugandan presidential palace in Entebbe.

Museveni stressed that the foundations of the solution must rest on the immediate cessation of the war, reaching a democratic civilian government, a single army and reconciliation between the Sudanese components

He stressed his readiness to continue efforts to help Sudan get out of this serious crisis and return peace and stability to the country

Sudan has been witnessing battles since April 15 between the army led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support forces led by Daglo, known as “Hemedti”.

The conflict has killed more than 2,800 people and displaced more than 2.8 million.
