Palestinian ambassador to Egypt, Diab Al-Louh, has announced that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will arrive in Cairo on Sunday, upon an invitation from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, to participate in a tripartite summit in Alamein.

Al-Louh said that the meeting will bring together Al-Sisi, Abbas, and King Abdullah II of Jordan to discuss various issues at the Arab, regional, and international levels, and to unify visions among the three leaders.

They will review efforts exerted towards ending the suffering of the Palestinian people and achieving their legitimate national rights to establish their independent and sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The Palestinian ambassador expressed his thanks to Egypt and President Al-Sisi for hosting the upcoming summit and its appreciated endeavours to support the Palestinian people and champion their just cause on the path of freedom and independence. He also expressed the appreciation of the Palestinian leadership and people for the tireless efforts exerted by the Jordan to defend Jerusalem and its holy sites..

Last July, Egypt hosted a meeting of the general secretaries of the Palestinian factions, chaired by the Palestinian president, in order to discuss ways to restore national unity, and end the division.

President Al-Sisi also met with his Palestinian counterpart in Alamein. At that time, the two sides discussed a number of issues of mutual interest and the latest developments in the Palestinian issue.

Last January, Cairo hosted a similar tripartite summit during which the three leaders stressed the need to preserve legitimate Palestinian rights and continue joint efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.

This embodies the independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the lines of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law, the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.

They stressed the need for the international community to provide protection to the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights and join efforts to find a real political horizon that relaunches serious and effective negotiations to resolve the Palestinian issue on the basis of a two-state solution.،

The leaders warned of the danger of the continued absence of a political horizon and the repercussions of this on security and stability in the region.
