Despite facing unfounded accusations and immense pressure, he maintained his integrity.Removed from his position at the Administrative Control Authority in September 2012, El-Tohamy’s service to his country was far from over.
In July 2013, interim President Adly Mansour appointed El-Tohamy to head the General Intelligence Service, a critical role during a period of significant political unrest. His leadership was instrumental in stabilizing the country’s security situation following the 2013 revolution. Under his guidance, the intelligence service enhanced its capabilities and reinforced the nation’s security infrastructure.
El-Tohamy served as head of the General Intelligence Service until September 2014. His tenure was marked by a deep sense of duty and unwavering commitment to national security. In recognition of his exceptional service, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi awarded him the Order of the Republic, First Class.
