Brazil has become the first Latin American country to host the “Russian Seasons,” a series of cultural events which have now concluded. Over several months, residents of the country were able to experience both classical and modern Russian culture, attending performances by Russian theatre groups and musical ensembles, and visiting exhibitions of Russian artists and craftspeople. TV BRICS served as the general international media partner for the event.

The programme concluded with concerts by the Moscow Jazz Orchestra, led by People’s Artist of Russia, Igor Butman, which were held in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

In a message welcoming participants to the closing ceremony, Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighted that the “Russian Seasons”, which began in 2017, had become a significant event for Russian artists and international audiences. “It is gratifying that the current ‘Russian Seasons’ were held at a high level, significantly enriched the palette of Russian-Brazilian humanitarian cooperation, made a creative contribution to strengthening trust and mutual understanding between our countries and peoples, laid a good foundation for new initiatives in the humanitarian sphere,” he said.

Approximately 16,000 people attended the “Russian Seasons” in Brazil. The cultural initiative coincided with Russia’s chairmanship of BRICS and Brazil’s chairmanship of the G20 in 2024. This was noted as a significant step in the development of relations between the two nations, as well as in strengthening humanitarian cooperation within these associations.

The international cultural project “Russian Seasons” is being implemented in 2024 with support from the Russian government, the Ministries of Culture of both Russia and Brazil, and the Russian Embassy in Brazil.

“Russian Seasons” is an annual event held in different countries around the world, aimed at promoting Russian culture internationally. Since the initiative began, concerts, exhibitions, performances, film screenings and festivals held under its banner have been attended by 13 million people.
