CAIRO: The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) is expected not to discipline Ahly midfielder Hossam Ashour for his alleged improper swearing during the 3-3 draw against ENPPI.
Ashour was caught on camera verbally assaulting either an ENPPI player or the referee. However, the competitions committee – an EFA subsidiary – will not be counting on lip-reading for disciplinary decisions.
A committee insider told FilGoal.com that after Zamalek striker Amr Zaki was punished for a similar incident last season, lip-reading have since then been abandoned as a way of spotting players misbehavior.
Zaki was suspended for three games and fined an LE10,000 after videos showed he verbally assaulted a referee during Zamalek s fixture with Baladeyat Mahalla last season.
The row over the incident convinced the committee not to use lip-reading for punishing players
