CAIRO: Egypt striker Mohamed Zidan will be investigated after missing the friendly game with Guinea without permission, even though his club said he is injured.

Borussia Dortmund revealed that the 27-year-old is struggling with a minor knee injury which forced him to pull out of Wednesday s match.

However, Zidan s absence provoked a state of disarray within the Egypt technical staff after he failed to show up on time for the call-up and was not answering his cell phone.

Zidan could go under investigation for his unjustified absence. We are dismayed because he didn’t bother to answer our calls, Egypt assistant coach Hamada Sedki told FilGoal.com.

We were waiting for a response from Zidan, but all what we received was a message from his club saying he is injured.

Now we can understand he is not serious about joining the national team.

Zidan was tipped to start for Egypt against the Syli Nationale, who pulled off a thrilling 3-3 draw with Hassan Shehata s team in Cairo on Wednesday night.

The Dortmund forward has become a key member of Shehata s selection after missing out on several occasions last year.
