Egypt’s index inched up, with Talaat Mostafa and Telecom Egypt driving the market, but traders said buyers remain cautious and volumes low ahead of local corporate results.
"It is the beginning of earning season in the US and things are looking good and that will affect what will happen here," said Hashem Ghoneim from Pyramids Capital.
"The market edges higher, but very cautiously until our results come out in August. So far, the main catalyst is the foreign markets."
Talaat Mostafa climbed 4.6 percent. On Wednesday, a court ruling is expected on the firm’s appeal against a decision to scrap a 8,304-acre land purchase.
Telecom Egypt gained 3.9 percent.
US stock index futures were higher on Tuesday after better-than-expected results from Alcoa Inc and CSX Corp gave a promising start to the earnings season.
The Egypt index ended 0.6 percent higher at 6,030 points, its third gain in four sessions.
