CAIRO: Zamalek’s football director Ibrahim Hassan denied that the Cairo giants sought to sign former Ahly star Flavio.
Flavio’s agent Nader Shawki hinted on Sunday that the Angolan striker could move to Zamalek on loan when the transfer window re-opens in January.
But a day later, Hassan said the White Knights have never contacted neither the 30-year-old nor his representative.
"We didn’t open talks with anyone over a deal with Flavio," Hassan told Modern TV.
Shawki said a popular club in Cairo had expressed their desire to run the rule over the Shabab hitman. He refused to reveal the name of the outfit but assured that it’s not Egyptian champions Ahly.
Flavio joined Saudi side Shabab in the summer of 2009, scoring 16 goals in his first season before sustaining a serious knee injury that kept him on the sidelines for around six months.
Ahly said they would be interested in bringing him back on a permanent basis but Shawki told FilGoal.com recently that the Red Devils would not afford matching his hefty price tag.
