All presidential and cabinet spokesmen have resigned from their posts, according to state-run media agency MENA.
Ehab Fahmy and Omar Amer, official spokesmen for the presidency submitted their resignations on Tuesday, according to AFP.
Alaa Al-Hadidi submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Hesham Qandil and stopped performing his duties on Monday, reported MENA.
These are the latest in a wave of resignations following the Armed Forces’ announcement on Monday afternoon that it would implement a roadmap for Egypt unless the government and the opposition reconciled their differences within 48 hours.
On Monday the ministers of Communications, Environment, Tourism, Legal Affairs and Foreign Affairs all submitted their resignations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said no response was available concerning Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Kamel Amr’s resignation.
Qandil was undecided on the resignations of the ministers, according to a cabinet statement published on Tuesday morning. The ministers are expected to continue in their roles until a decision is made.
