Ahead of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s participation in the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry will head to New York City on Thursday, according to ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abou Zaid.
The Egyptian delegation that will participate in the UNGA will discuss a variety of issues, including counter-terrorism efforts, the dissemination of nuclear weapons, and the refugee crisis, according to Abou Zaid.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s spokesperson noted that Egypt will also participate in several important meetings to be held on the sidelines of the UNGA, which will include discussions on the latest developments in Syria and Libya.
“The Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister will participate in a ministerial meeting on 22 September to discuss the situation in Libya. The meeting aims to achieve a convergence of views between Libyan parties to enhance security there,” the statement read.
