Prime Minister Sherif Ismail launched a conference on Monday, sponsored by the presidency. The Ministers’ Council on Social Affairs’ topic is “Causes and Treatments” and is set to address terrorism and social development with the attendance of Arab delegations, according to a cabinet statement on Monday.
The conference is taking place in Sharm El-Sheikh and will come to an end on Tuesday.
Ismail emphasised the Egyptian state’s efforts in dealing with terrorism and its endeavours of responding to extremism by uniting all social entities, according to his speech in the opening session.
The prime minister continued affirming Egypt’s keenness on achieving the highest level of regional and international coordination to eliminate terrorism, saying that this reflects in the organisation of this conference in Sharm El-Sheikh.
The phenomenon of terrorism is now threatening the entire world, with terrorist attacks even haunting countries that previously did not expect to face terrorism, Sherif added.
A number of Egyptian and Arab ministers have attended the opening session, along with several governors and a number of representatives from international, regional, and Arab organisations.
During the conference various topics are being discussed, including the role of the youth and women to confront extremist ideology, impacts of modern religious discourse in confronting violence, as well as the importance of promoting tolerance in society.
Terrorism issues will, however, dominate the conference’s discussions, as it was mainly arranged for the sake of reaching a unified solution of Arab countries, in order to eradicate terrorism.
