Ambassador of Sweden to Egypt, Jan Thesleff said that the embassy is preparing to organise a seminar about traffic safety in Egypt on 7 November, adding that seminar participants will discuss how to improve traffic safety in the country.
“Officials from Sweden will participate in the event as well as companies’ representatives such as Volvo and other Swedish companies who work on safety solutions, however, the delegation list hasn’t been finalised yet” the ambassador told Daily News Egypt, adding that the embassy is collaborating with Egypt’s Transport Ministry, as well as other agencies to organise the event.
On a different note, the ambassador said that his country collaborates with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to share its experience regarding the e-payment field, assisting the country in digitalising the economy, explaining that Sweden is very advanced in the e-payment field.
In July, the embassy hosted a meeting with the CBE officials to discuss the follow up to the delegation’s visit from early 2018.
The Egyptian economy is in a very good direction, the ambassador told DNE in April 2018, adding that Swedish companies are showing more interest in the market. “Trade exchange is at €850m and there are about 70 [Swedish] companies investing in Egypt,” Thesleff added.
