Dreaming of indulgence

Dreamland s Spa offers a range of treatments

Serene would be the best word to describe my first impression of Dreamland s Spa and Wellness Center. The moment you enter, you seem to escape from the chaotic city and the angst-ridden roads and highway you travel through to get to the spa at the Dreamland Hilton in 6th of October City.

The muted beige tiles, soft lighting and sensuous smells are what you would expect of a spa. The treatment rooms were a combination of clinical indulgence, alternating between functionality and pleasure. The exception, however, was the purely decadent atmosphere of the indoor swimming pool and hydro massage pool which was spectacular; the ceiling mural depicted a gray-blue cloudy sky, palm trees were scattered around the pool and large windows created an airy, sunny atmosphere.

I was treated to an orientation of the spa by Francoise Serriez, the operation director at Bioline Egypt, the center s managing company. In her charming French accent, Serriez advises consulting with a beautician before choosing a treatment. They are trained to know exactly what skin needs and could tailor the treatments accordingly.

She explains that the beauticians used a range of professional products from Sothys, produced by French specialists, as well as a number of natural salts and essential oils locally manufactured by Nefertari.

The center offers a wide variety of treatments and you can choose from their à la carte or opt for a package of treatments. But if you have specific needs they ll tailor a treatment specifically.

You can choose from the hydro massage pool which promotes circulation and – depending on the products added to the water – can either replenish the minerals in your body, detoxify, or relax. The spa also offers Chromotherm high-tech treatments, where you are wrapped in essential oils, seaweed or Dead Sea mud and placed in a steam tank. Hydro massage and color therapy is used to energize or calm you.

The body ghassoul masque, made of special Moroccan clay, will revitalize your skin promising to leave you radiant.

There is a selection of manual treatments from an anti-stress massage to a slimming anti-cellulite contouring massage. You can also lie on a comfortable table and enjoy an Affusion shower, which uses micro-jets of water to soothe and relax you, with the added option of a manual massage.

There is a steam bath and a sauna room, and you can always take a relaxing dip in the pool or swim in the heated hydro massage pool to strengthen muscle tone and eliminate toxins.

From full body massages to facials, from scrubs to manicures, the choices are countless. But whatever you choose, the outcome will be the same. As a French-accented guest, I happened to bump into outside a treatment room, exclaimed with a radiant smile, When I m here, it s always a good day.

RecommendationsFor first time visitors to the spa, Serriez recommends the following treatments. She does insist that it s well worth the time to consult with the team of beauticians to propose a treatment that best suits your personal needs.

For WomenTo counter the harmful effects of pollution and hot weather that take a toll on the skin, try the Oxyliance facial (LE 455). The one-and-a-half-hour treatment both detoxifies and vitalizes your skin.

If you re in the mood for something more indulgent, opt for the Moroccan body treatment (LE 240). An exfoliating steam bath followed by a loofah scrub, it lasts a mere half hour. The treatment eliminates toxins and dead cells, purifying your skin while the essential oils massage helps you relax.

For MenMen might prefer to try one of the sublime Super Sothys face, head and full body massage (LE 460). This 90-minute massage will leave you feeling relaxed and revitalized.

The hot stone massage (ranging from LE 230 for a face massage to LE 600 for both a face and body massage) also comes highly recommended. Stone massage involves the application of water-heated basalt stones of varying sizes to key points on the body, giving a deep massage and creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage.
