CAIRO: Hungary’s Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai met with Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Rachid Mohamed Rachid as part of a joint business forum this week, the ministry said in a statement.
During the forum, more than 100 members of the business communities from both nations heard plans on expanding bilateral trade and investment.
“The officials said that the current economic crisis drove both governments to identify untraditional markets that can lead to growth of both investment and trade, the statement read.
Bilateral trade between Egypt and Hungary reached ?85.91 million from January to November 2009, with Egyptian exports reaching ?5.53 million and Hungarian imports reaching ?80.38 million.
Hungarian investments in Egypt since 1970 have amounted to LE 28.55 million, mainly in the tourism, industry, services, construction and agriculture sectors. -Daily News Egypt
