ALEXANDRIA: Ittihad chairman Mohamed Moselhi confirmed that coach Taha Basri has agreed to extend his stay with the Alexandria-based club.

Basri s contract is due to end this summer, but Ittihad are not ready to give away the man who miraculously saved them from relegation.

Basri will extend his contract. After what he achieved with the team this season, I think it is normal that we should keep him, Moselhi told FilGoal.com.

The former 70s’ star, who took charge of Ittihad in mid-season, lifted the team from rock bottom to 10th place as they avoided imminent demotion.

Basri has recently implied that his future at Ittihad is tied with the board s willingness to buy a number of players in the summer transfer window.

Consequently, the Ittihad chairman revealed that the club is negotiating with Ahly over the possibility of signing Reda Al-Weeshi, Ahmed Sedik and Ahmed Shedid upon Basri s request.

It is also believed that the former ENPPI coach is monitoring a host of players from relegated Suez Cement.
