CAIRO: Although Zamalek s ousted defender Beshir Al-Tabie said he won t play for any other club in Egypt, Ittihad expressed their interest in luring him to Alexandria.
Zamalek released six players, but just one of them interests us. Al-Tabie is on our wish list for the new season, Ittihad coach Taha Basri told FilGoal.com.
Al-Tabie, who joined Zamalek from Turkish side Rizespor in the summer of 2007, was released by the club after a string of poor displays.
The former Egypt defender said he might join Qatari side Al-Gharafa, otherwise he would announce his retirement.
Al-Tabie insisted he won t join any club in Egypt other than Zamalek.
Meanwhile, Ittihad, who finished 10th in the Egyptian League last season, are stepping up their efforts to sign four players from cup finalists ENPPI.
The Alexandria-based club is set to negotiate ENPPI s LE 2 million asking price to offload Farag Shalabi, Osama Al-Sayed, Reda Metwalli and Ibrahim Al-Shayeb.
