CAIRO: Zamalek striker Amr Zaki is on the verge of completing a loan-deal to Wigan Athletic, claimed the Wigan-based newspaper Wigan Today.
The report said, the deal to bring in Amr Zaki on a year s loan is now close to completion.
Manager Steve Bruce has off-loaded Marcus Bent and Julius Aghahowa in order to bring on some quality strikers.
Zamalek and Wigan have agreed a £1.5 million loan fee with a first option to sign him for £4.5 million next summer.
The Latics will have to pay an extra £500,000 if Zaki scores 10 Premier League goals this season.
However, Zamalek are willing to keep their 25-year old marksman until after the Ahly clashes in the CAF Champions League group stages and the Egyptian Super Cup on July 20 and 27 respectively.
The report also suggested that Bruce is trying to land another striker as Frenchman Djibril Cisse has been linked with a move to the Premier League side.
The Latics have ruled out a move to Croatia striker Ivan Klasnic due to concerns over his fitness following a kidney transplant.
