Zaki has come from nowhere, says Villa defender

CAIRO: Amr Zaki s rapid impact on the Premiership is “great for the game, according to Aston Villa full-back Nicky Shorey.

The England international hailed Zaki s unexpected brilliance at the top level so far, ahead of Sunday s meeting at JJB.

He’s come from nowhere and that maybe doesn’t happen too often,” said Shorey.

But if you give people a chance, sometimes they surprise you. Others don’t get opportunities but if you put a bit of confidence in someone and give them a chance, they can do wonders for you sometimes.

He has done great and that is great for the game. Others will now look at him and think they can do the same.

Shorey is well aware his team will have a tough task dealing with the physical supremacy of the Bulldozer and his giant strike partner Emile Heskey.

It is going to be hard work with them having Zaki and Emile Heskey up front, he added.

They are two big brutes but we have to deal with that and I’m sure we will.

I’ve seen Wigan this season and they are a good side. It is going to be a real tough test.

But we go into any game confident and that’s the way we go into this one.
