CAIRO: Zamalek acting president Mohamed Amer confirmed that he still hopes of convincing former chairman Mamdouh Abbas to reconsider his resignation.

Amer told the club s official website on Sunday that several top Zamalek members are trying to talk Abbas into returning as head of the club board.

Abbas, who is yet to officially submit his resignation, announced on Thursday that he will step down from his position at the club.

Since then, vice president Amer has been acting as an interim president till further notice.

National Sports Council chief Hassan Saqr has earlier confirmed that Amer will stay on as the club s acting president until a temporary committee is formed by the council to head Zamalek up to next July s elections.
