CAIRO: Ahly have officially rejected an offer from Al-Shabab of Saudi Arabia to sign defender Wael Gomaa.
Al-Shabab have earlier submitted a one and half years offer worth $500,000 for the international center back.
However, Ahly marketing director Adli Al-Qaeyi told FilGoal.com that upon the coaching staff s request, the offer was rejected due to the team s need for Gomaa.
The 33-year-old player said that he was delight that Ahly have put their confidence in him.
The coaching staff told me that I m an important part of the team and that s why they rejected the offer, Gomaa told FilGoal.com.
I want to thank Al-Shabab officials and apologize for rejecting their offer.
Gomaa had an earlier experience of playing in the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC), when he was loaned out to Al-Siliya of Qatar last season.
