CAIRO: ENPPI s title hopes have been dented after Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Gaish in the Egyptian Premier League.

Adel Mostafa scored the opener on 44 minutes, and Gaish s Walid Aslan leveled one minute after the hour mark.

ENPPI, who still have four matches in hand as well as two postponed games, are now in fourth place with 43 points, five behind leaders Ahly who played a game less.

On the other hand, military side Gaish moved up to ninth place on 31 points.

The game was pulsating between both sides, with ENPPI trying to ensure their league credentials, and the hosts looking forward to obtaining a better rank.

Mostafa broke the deadlock late in the first period after releasing an unstoppable shot from the edge of the penalty area.

But after the restart, Aslan notched an equalizer when he connected with a Mohsen Hendawi corner-kick.

The visitors exerted extra efforts in the dying minutes, trying to clinch a narrow win and claim all three points, but to no avail.

Concurrently, relegation-threatened Olympic registered a much-needed 2-1 win over Tersana to ease the demotion risk.

Saied Mourad scored either side of the interval on 25 and 60 minutes, and Abdel-Rahman Mohie pulled one back for the away side deep into the stoppage time.

The Alexandrian outfit remain in penultimate place with 23 points, while the Hammers are still languishing at the bottom of the table on 22 points.
