CAIRO: Ismaili are seeking to get the Egyptian Football Association to appoint a foreign referee for their final Egyptian Premier League game against Tersana on May 20, according to board member Khaled Al-Tayeb.
Hungarian referee Viktor Kassai had been assigned to preside over the Dervishes’ 1-0 win at Telecom Egypt on Monday, and the coastal side were satisfied with his competency.
“Our last game (against Telecom) was competently officiated by a foreign referee, therefore we think it would be better to have another expatriate to judge the Tersana game, Al-Tayeb told FilGoal.com.
“We are yet to hold a meeting to thoroughly discuss this matter.
Ismaili is level on 60 points with leaders Ahly, who have better goal difference over the coastal club.
Each side has one remaining match, and they will meet in a decisive play-off if they remain level on points after the final round.
“We would also like a foreign referee to officiate the potential decider with Ahly, Al-Tayeb concluded.
