CAIRO: Zamalek refuted news that Amr Zaki is suffering from a permanent muscle problem, amid reports suggesting he has a troublesome hamstring.

Zaki, who returned to action in the 3-1 league win over ENPPI last week, was stretchered off the second half with a hamstring injury.

However, Zamalek doctor Mostafa Al-Monayeri insists that the fresh setback has no relation with the hamstring tear Zaki sustained with Egypt against Algeria in June.

It is totally untrue that Zaki has a permanent hamstring problem, the Zamalek chief medic told the club s official site.

Scans proved that he pulled his hamstring against ENPPI, he only needs a few days to recover and he may well be fit for Petrojet [on Aug. 20].

The injury he suffered with Egypt has been completely healed; it is different from the new problem.

Zaki missed out on Egypt s Confederations Cup campaign in South Africa and has been ruled out of Wednesday s friendly with Guinea as well.

The 26-year-old looks set to stay with Zamalek this season after a bumpy loan spell at Wigan last term.
