CAIRO: Egypt coach Hassan Shehata has been placed seventh in the annual list of the world s most influential Arabs compiled by Arabian Business magazine.

Shehata made the 100-man list after guiding the Pharaohs to an unprecedented third consecutive African Cup of Nations title in Angola in January.

Egypt s popular football coach Hassan Shehata fills the number seven spot in the Power 100, the UAE-based magazine said on its website on Sunday.

Earlier this year Egypt became the first team to win the African Cup of Nations three times in succession, a hat trick largely credited to its coach.

There was also room for Egypt forward Mohamed Nagi Gedo , who occupied the 44th place after playing a key role in the team s continental triumph.

The Ittihad man scored five goals despite not starting any game to finish as the tournament s top scorer.

In total, he only played on the pitch for 137 minutes but still managed to score against Nigeria, Mozambique, Cameroon, Algeria and Ghana, Arabian Business said.

Ahly and Egypt playmaker Mohamed Abou-Trika was the third Egyptian football figure to be included in the list.

He came 78th although he missed the Nations Cup due to injury.

The list also included Algeria coach Rabah Saadane, who helped his country reach the World Cup for the first time since 1986 at the expense of Egypt.
