CAIRO: Egypt midfielder Hosni Abd Rabou has been named the best player in the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Ghana after heavily contributing to the Pharaohs’ triumph.

The Ismaili midfielder was inspirational for an outstanding national team that clinched their sixth Nations Cup in history.

Abd Rabou scored four goals throughout the tournament to play a pivotal role in Egypt’s much-deserved victory.

The dead-ball specialist scored twice against Cameroon in the first-round 4-2 victory over the Indomitable Lions.

Abd Rabou converted two penalties against Sudan and Angola and proved to be a formidable midfielder.
