CAIRO: Shikabala’s link with Anderlecht was fortified after the Belgian champions sold star defender Jelle van Damme to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Reports in Belgium suggest that the sale of Van Damme should provide Anderlecht with enough funds to acquire transfer targets Shikabala and Kevin De Bryune of Genk.
Van Damme’s transfer was announced on Tuesday, with a reported fee of around €3million, which is close to the lofty asking price set by Zamalek for their star man.
Although they had an enquiry turned down in April, Anderlecht are unlikely to give up on the talented playmaker this summer.
The Egypt international is considered ‘not for sale’, but his willingness to play in Europe along with the near-20million-pound fee are likely to further facilitate the move.
