CAIRO: Egypt striker Emad Meteb welcomes interest from Belgian club Standard Liege as his exit from Ahly seems imminent.

"I met with officials from Standard and Meteb seems to be tempted by the move, but we are still negotiation," Meteb’s agent Nader Shawki told FilGoal.com.

"We had an offer from Queens Park Rangers, but Meteb prefers to play top-flight football, so it has been turned down.

"I expect more offers in the upcoming period, but if nothing appeared, I think Standard could be Meteb’s next destination."

Meteb’s contract with Ahly runs out this summer as the 27-year-old aims to realize his long-awaited dream of moving to Europe.

He was on the verge of joining Championship side Bristol City last year, but the deal fell through when he played for Ahly in the 2008 Super Cup.

Meteb was Ahly’s top scorer in the league this term with nine goals.
