CAIRO: Ismaili are on the verge of hiring Dutchman Mark Wotte as manager, despite his previous controversy with the club.

FilGoal.com has learnt that the 49-year-old coach will arrive in Ismailia this week to sign a contract with the Dervishes to succeed Emad Soliman.

At the same stage of last season, Ismaili reached a similar agreement with Wotte, but the latter snubbed the Egyptian club to return to Southampton.

Ironically, Wotte was sacked by the English championship club shortly after a takeover had taken place.

He also had a spell in Ismailia in 2006 before suddenly leaving the coastal club to coach Waalwijk, citing ‘personal reasons’ for his decision.
