CAIRO: Zamalek new recruit Essam Al-Hadari required ten stitches to treat a head injury sustained in the team’s pre-season camp in Switzerland, the Cairo club said.

Al-Hadari was forced out of Friday’s training session after a collision with teammate Hussein Yasser, who accidentally kicked the Egypt’s goalie’s forehead.

The 37-year-old is expected to miss Saturday’s friendly game with Winterthur in Saint-Gallen.

Zamalek are expected to finish their pre-season camp this week after calling off their proposed friendly with Romanian giants Steaua Bucharest.

The White Knights slumped to a 3-0 defeat by Neuchatel Xamax last Monday before crushing fellow Swiss club St. Gallen 4-0 two days later.

They will open their Egyptian Premier League campaign against cup holders Harras Hodoud on August 5.
