The Egyptian state’s main wheat buying agency said on Tuesday it wanted to buy cargoes of 55,000 to 60,000 tons of optional-origin wheat for shipment September 10-25.

The agency said it was not seeking offers of wheat from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Romania. It did not give details, but the Black Sea region has been hit by a severe drought and Russia has temporarily banned grain exports.

Tenders should reach GASC by noon local time (0900 GMT) on Wednesday. Results should be published around 4:30 pm (1330 GMT) the same day. Wheat bids should be free-on-board, with a separate freight offer.

GASC Vice Chairman Nomani Nomani said he was seeking cargoes of US North Pacific soft white wheat, US hard red wheat, US soft red winter wheat, and/or Canadian soft wheat.

GASC was also seeking cargoes of French milling wheat, Australian standard white wheat, Australian hard wheat, German milling wheat, Argentine bread wheat and/or UK milling wheat (ukp or uks variety).

In its last tender on Saturday, GASC bought 240,000 tons of French wheat for shipment from September 1-15.
