CAIRO: Shikabala has put an end to widespread speculation over his future by signing a contract extension with the Cairo club, said Zamalek’s football director Ibrahim Hassan.
"Shikabala has already put pen to paper during a meeting with the club’s board members," he told Modern TV.
"The whole matter has finally ended."
According to agent Samir Abdul-Tawab, Shikabala inked a four-year deal that will keep him at Zamalek till 2014.
Anderlecht have been trying to secure the 24-year-old’s services for months but Zamalek have been determined to keep hold of him.
The Belgian giants had two offers for Shika turned down by Zamalek, which prompted the former club to seek legal avenues to land the Egypt schemer without the Whites’ consent.
Anderlecht, who claimed that Shikabala had penned a four-year contract with them, wanted the international ace to invoke article 17 of FIFA regulations to leave Zamalek.
The article states that players who have already served three years of their existing contract – or two years in the case of players aged 28 or over – could buy out the remaining time of their deal.
But Hassan assured that Shikabala is going nowhere.
Shikabala was once quoted by Belgian paper De Standard as saying that he was determined to leave Zamalek to join Anderlecht.
