MOGADISHU: A third straight day of fighting in Somalia’s capital has killed at least six people.

Ali Muse, who heads Mogadishu’s ambulance service, confirmed the deaths.

The latest fighting between al-Shabab militants and government and African Union troops comes a day after militants stormed a Mogadishu hotel and killed at least 32 people.

Al-Shabab, which has links with al-Qaida, declared a new "massive" war earlier this week against what it labeled invaders. Since then, there has been almost constant fighting in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital.

At least 80 people have been killed in fighting since Monday.
