CAIRO: ENPPI returned to winning ways after claiming a 2-0 victory over Gaish in the Egyptian Premier League on Saturday.

In-form playmaker Walid Soliman, who has been inspirational for ENPPI since joining in the close season from Petrojet, opened the scoring midway through the first half.

He made the most of a defensive blunder to break clear and round the keeper before slotting into an empty net.

"I still dream of joining either (Cairo duo) Ahy and Zamalek," Soliman, who is occasionally called up to Egypt’s squad by coach Hassan Shehata, said in a television interview after the game.

"ENPPI’s board promised to let me leave if I get a suitable offer."

Egyptian champions Ahly have been long-term admirers of Soliman but failed in their attempts to sign him.

Striker Ahmed Abdul-Zaher wrapped up ENPPI’s win shortly after the break to ease the pressure on Bulgarian coach Stojko Mladenov, who was criticized after the petroleum club slumped to two successive defeats.

ENPPI lie third in the league table with 13 points, two behind leaders and surprise package Police Union who have a game in hand.
