Egypt’s environmental investments hit $1.25 bln

Egypt’s Minister of State for Environmental Affairs Maged George said that environmental investments between 2006 until 2010 reached around LE 7.2 billion ($ 1.25 billion).

Of that sum, around LE 2.2 million was spent on projects to combat industrial pollution, the minister was cited as saying by the State Information Service.

He also said that projects to develop the most impoverished villages cost LE 198 million, noting that LE 96 million has been allocated to a forestation programs.
