CAIRO: The number of Egyptian fans will surely exceed that of the home fans when the African champions visit Qatar this week, according to the latter’s assistant coach.

The friendly, which is not among FIFA’s international agenda, takes place in Doha on Thursday as part of the Qataris preparations for next month’s Asian Cup of Nations.

“One of our main objectives of choosing Egypt is helping the players get used to playing under pressure from fans,” Bruno Metsu’s assistant Saied Al-Mosned told Modern Sport TV.

When asked by presenter Ahmed Shobeir if he means Egypt fans, Al-Mosned replied saying positively.

“Absolutely, the stadium takes up to 50,000 supporters and I expect 45,000 Egyptians to be there.”

In the same context, some 5,000 Egyptian fans attended the team’s training on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Qataris are buoyed by their recent success in the bid to host the 2022 World Cup.
