CAIRO: Egyptian striker Ahmed “Mido” Hossam is set to rejoin Cairo club Zamalek on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

The Egyptian club’s website said Thursday the much-traveled Ajax player arrived in Cairo on Thursday and is expected to complete the deal after Zamalek’s Egyptian Premier League match on Friday.

The 27-year-old said he would end his career at Zamalek, telling Yallakora.com that "my only objective is to retire here."

Earlier this month Mido asked Dutch club Ajax to cancel his contract, which ran until June.

His European career spanned six countries over 11 years. He made his name at Ajax between 2001-03 before going on to play for teams including Marseille, Roma and Tottenham. He began his career with Zamalek in 1999.
