Roaming charges and fees for Egypt’s three primary mobile service providers do vary, but not by much. Prices per minute for Vodafone users operating on a line will remain at EGP 1, while those purchasing minutes via scratch cards will be charged EGP 2 per minute. Prices with Etisalat remained set at EGP 2, reaching EGP 5 for international calls.
Vodafone users signed up with Gold, Platinum, Diamond or Business Bouqet lines will see their roaming charges remain at EGP 1 per minute, while those using Easy Control cards will see prices rise to EGP 2, without terms or conditions. Users will be able to recharge their roaming fees by using the company’s new roaming recharge feature, without having to pay additional costs.
Through Mobinil’s Star and Business roaming programmes, countries in which users are operating in have been grouped into the following categories: preferred countries, preferred operators, Arab companies, European and North American companies, Russia and the rest of the world. All charges are subject to a 15% sales tax and can be subject to change without prior notice. Recharge services for those roaming are available through the company’s air charge programme, available in 14 countries. Star and Business users traveling abroad are also limited to 1500 minutes per months.
Roaming charges for Etisalat users located in Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates (UAE) total EGP 5 per minute for voice or internet calls made to Egypt or anywhere else in the world. All calls are subject to a 15% tax. These prices apply only to users operating through Saudi Arabia’s Mobily, and Etisalat in the United Arab Emirates.
Users located anywhere else throughout the world will be charged EGP 2 per minute, without being subjected to any terms, conditions or additional fees. Users located in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates can recharge their lines through cards purchased from Mobily and Etisalat UAE.
